Updated over a year ago

This article will provide a comprehensive guide on the Anti-Joy upload form, covering all the necessary information section by section.

Album Metadata

Number of Songs

In this section, you can select the number of songs you want to upload for this release. Uploading a single means selecting up to three songs, while choosing more than three songs categorizes your release as an EP/Album.

Artists

Please enter the name(s) of the main artist(s) for the release. The main artist, also known as the "performer," is the principal artist associated with the album. The main artist(s) will be credited on all tracks included in the album.

Album title

If your release contains multiple songs, you will need to provide an album title. Please refrain from using any other artist's name or trademark in your album title.

Release date

The release date section of the upload form is where you indicate when you would like your release to go live in services.

If you are uploading a previously distributed release, please set the original release date here.

Record label

Feel free to either enter a personalized record label or keep the existing one as it is.

Artwork

Please choose the artwork you would like to upload in this section. Although a 3000x3000 pixels .jpg file is recommended, we do support various other file types as well.

Album language

In this section, you are able to choose the main language utilized in the release. It is important that the language chosen here corresponds with the language used for the titles of the tracks.

Primary genre

You can choose the genre of your release from our comprehensive genre list, which includes all genres accepted by the services we distribute to. Please note that your specific sub-genre may not be listed, but that's not an issue. Simply select the closest genre to your release, as services tend to sort genres on their own.

Secondary genre

If you feel like one genre isn't enough to fully describe your project, you can add a secondary genre from the same list of options. Simply choose another genre that also suits your project.

Services

Below is a list of services we provide. If you wish to exclude your release from any of these stores, please contact our customer support team after uploading.

Track Metadata

Song title

When filling out this section, please only include the title of the release. Any version information or additional artists should be added later in the track menu.

Parenthetical information is acceptable, but only if it's part of the title and not used to indicate additional artists or version information.

✅ Skies (Don't Fly Away)
❌ Got Away (feat. Somebody You Used To Know)
✅ Got Away
❌ Teen Spirits (Flixer Remix)

Version

This section can be used to indicate any parenthetical version information. Common versions include:

  • Live

  • Acoustic

  • Radio Edit

  • Remix

  • [Remixer] Remix

  • [Genre] Remix

Additional artists

If your release includes multiple tracks, you can add (featured) artists to individual tracks. To avoid delivery failure, please add the artist to the album section if they are featured on all tracks.

Instrumental?

Please specify in this section if your song includes lyrics or is purely instrumental.

Parental advisory

In this section, please indicate if your release contains explicit lyrics. Additionally, if it is a Radio Edit, you may also specify that here.

Language

Here you can set the language of the track itself.

Songwriters

Please select whether the song is an original or a cover version.

Cover song

If you have specified that your song is a cover, it's essential to go through the cover song information and confirm that the track doesn't use samples or remixes of other artists' recordings, as it is mandatory.

Add songwriters

For original songs, it is necessary to credit the songwriters involved. This includes the composer(s), lyricist(s), producer(s), publisher(s), and remixer(s). It is crucial to properly credit the real names of the composers and lyricists rather than their stage names.

Audio file

This is where you can choose the audio file for your track.

Preview clip start time

Here, you can personalize the part of your tracks that will be accessible for store previews. Just click on "When the good part starts" to indicate which section of your track should be available for preview on popular music platforms like TikTok, Spotify, Apple Music, and iTunes.

Addons (Optional)

In the "Addons" section, you can add additional options to your release, if you choose to do so. It's not required, but it's hella awesome!

Mandatory Checkboxes

Please note that the Mandatory Checkboxes section must be completed before sending your release to services. This section is mandatory and cannot be skipped.

You can check out the Anti-Joy Terms of Service and Distribution Agreement here.

This is it! Click Distribute, and your release will be sent to the services you selected. Congrats!!
